Hey all,
So this week, I decided to try cottage cheese. The reason I never tried it or gave it a chance was because of the texture. I couldn't fathom trying to put something that lumpy into my mouth, much less swallow it. It never smelled amazing - in fact, it never really had a smell at all. But my mother raves about it, and it's been in our fridge more than a few times. So I figured, why not?
I didn't want to buy a big tub of it in case I didn't like it. I also wanted to keep it healthy and WW-friendly. So I went with Friendship's 1% milkfat cottage cheese. The first thing I did (as I do with most of my foods) is divided it into separate containers based on the serving size. That way I know exactly how much I'm eating and I'm not tempted to keep going. Once I'm finished with a container, that's it. But back to the cottage cheese - I opened one container and tried it. I had a little trouble with the texture at first, but I told myself I had to get past it. And I did! I LOVED it. I don't know what I was expecting, but I didn't think it was going to have such a "cheesy" (for lack of a better word) flavor. I thought it was going to be bitter or sour, along the lines of sour cream. I was wrong, and I'm glad I was!! I added a little bit of cinnamon (having seen my mother do this plenty of times) and it wasn't bad. But I think I prefer just straight-up cottage cheese.
Add this to the list of things I'll be eating again! Wooohooo!!
