Food Diary - May 22

So, last night I injured my toe. To the point where I'm having a lot of trouble walking.  It was pouring and I was scurrying to catch the 6 train.  My left rain boot (which, incidentally, are the same pair of rain boots I was wearing when I hurt my right knee) slid across the yellow warning track and straight into the train that was standing in the station.  Can you believe that? I kicked a train! I was afraid my foot was going to get caught in the gap between the train and the platform, so I yanked my foot back and in that split second I stumbled backwards.  A very nice man tried to hold the door open for me, but I was in a state of shock because of what had just happened.  I wobbled down the platform after the train took off, took my foot out of my boot, and tried to inspect the damage.  The nail had cracked a little, and it was badly throbbing, but I thought I'd be okay.  I got home and it was bleeding and the nail looked worse than I thought.

I thought a good night's sleep would heal this, but it hurt throughout the night, and wearing a different pair of rain boots this morning was not a good idea.  I was in severe pain every time my toe touched the boot.  I got to work and put on sandals and watched as my toe turned seven shades of pink.  My caring coworkers helped me elevate my foot, got me ice and some meds, but I couldn't put pressure on my toe to save my life.  It was hard to limp around on the side of my foot considering my knee was still hurting, but I did what I had to do.

On the upside, I couldn't exactly wander around too much, so that eliminated my trips to the kitchen to eat things.  After work, Caitrin and I went to see What to Expect When You're Expecting, which was a pretty good movie with a lot of laughs.  I resisted the popcorn and candy and instead just had an iced tea.
