I read this post via Pinterest about homemade spices. Now, I am big into spices. Sauces, dips, spices, I think they are essential to cooking and/or baking anything. Chicken can be just chicken - but with sauces and spices, you can have teriyaki chicken one night, buffalo chicken the next, and breaded chicken cutlets the night after that.
With that said, I am a sucker for all of those seasoning packets. It's not enough to own almost every spice readily available; I need to own all the different combinations, marinades, etc that are out there.
I have a confession to make: I have been in a love affair with ranch dressing for at least 5 years. I prefer Stop and Shop Light Ranch Dressing to all the other ones out there. I often settle for the fat free version, being that I so often use it. But when I came across this post, I was so intrigued that I walked right over to my spice cabinet and yanked out what I needed.
Homemade Ranch Dip:
3 tbsp Fat Free Sour Cream
Pinch of parsley
Sprinkle of garlic powder
Dried minced onion
I didn't measure this one out, and I think it's all about mixing in enough until you find something you like. If you want to make it into a salad dressing, I imagine you would add a little bit of fat free milk until you have the desired consistency.
