I have always liked granola bars. It was one of the few breakfast foods my mother could get me to eat before school when I was younger. She would buy any variety available – peanut butter, s’mores, chocolate chunk, etc. – just so I was getting some kind of nutrition and fuel before school.
I had heard of people mixing granola into yogurt or using it over salads. I had gone so far as to crumble up a granola bar into my yogurt on occasion. I don’t know why I didn’t make the obvious jump from granola bar to just granola itself, but the correlation wasn’t there. So, since I had a good idea that I would enjoy granola, I gave it a shot. Caitrin and I went to Stop & Shop one night for a few miscellaneous items and I randomly stopped right in front of the granola. We spent a few minutes trying to decipher which brands had flavors we liked for prices we liked. (Granola is expensive! This bag ran for $4.99 at Stop & Shop.) Finally, we decided on Bear Naked granola. I had a hard time deciding which flavor to get, but I played it safe and got Vanilla Almond Crunch. I brought it home and tried a spoonful. Delicious! Sweet, but not overbearingly sweet where it made my teeth hurt. The next day, I brought some to work and added it to my yogurt. I was full for SO long that day! It makes such a difference, too, because it gave my yogurt the little "kick" it needed. Will I buy it again? Are you kidding? I already have!
