Inside Out S'mores

For Father's Day, I wanted to make something special as an addition to the table.  When my family has a BBQ, or any celebration really, we tend to go way over the top.  We have appetizers, then dinner, then usually two rounds of dessert.  Not on purpose... mostly because not everything fits on the table at one time!

This holiday was no exception to the rule.  We had veggies and crackers and hummus and salsa.. oh my!  Then for dinner we had a variety of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, london broil, grilled chicken... and then there was the tomato and basil pasta, the coleslaw, the bread, and I absolutely know I am forgetting at least three other things that were served.

Dessert is a specialty in our family.  We all have a knack for baking and creating awesome and delicious treats for everyone.  (And those of us who don't usually find something equally as delicious in the dessert aisle!)  This year, we had brownies, pralines, cookies, etc.  We had watermelon.  And my addition was these little guys.  Simple to make, simple to eat, to the point (pun intended!) and delicious.  Not to mention eye-catching!  So many family members did a double take when they looked at these, probably assuming it was some sort of centerpiece.

Here's what you need:
Skewers (I found mine in the Christmas Tree Shop, $0.79 for 50)
Marshmallows (I used medium-sized ones.  I saw gigantic campfire sized ones, but I wasn't sure if they would fit.)
Chocolate that you can melt (I just used a Hershey's bar)
Graham crackers, crushed up

Melt the chocolate and crush the graham crackers.  Then set up a little station.  Take a marshmallow, dip it in chocolate (I used a spoon to make it even around the sides because I find there's a lot of extra chocolate when I dip), dip it in the graham crackers (shake off the excess), and stab the skewer into the non-chocolate part of the marshmallow.  I threw mine in a mason jar for the presentation, but whatever you have will work fine!  Just make sure they are standing up so they have a chance to dry.

Ta-da! Done!

And Happy Father's Day to my dad, Mike.  Love you!
PS: Thanks for finally smiling in a picture :)
